Espírito Natalino (1)*

*Não dá pra falar de punk brasileiro sem passar pela Garotos Podres. Formada em 1982, a banda paulista se diferenciava das demais pela “raiva” e simplicidade com que tocava e por sua música carregada de crítica social e política. Algumas de suas canções se tornaram grandes clássicos do punk brazuca. Entre elas, destaco a versão da “Internacional Socialista” (vídeo aqui), “Anarquia Oi”, “Johnny” e “Papai Noel FDP". Só por curiosidade: Mao, idealizador e vocalista da banda, foi um antigo militante do movimento sindicalista (trotskista) e atualmente é professor e doutor em História pela USP.

Há uma triologia de Tom Stoppard intitulada The Coast of Utopia, onde Bakunin é uma das personagens mais interessantes.

Faz hoje 30 anos que os Sex Pistols lançaram o álbum Never Mind the Bollocks.

Passou mais de um quarto de século sobre a faixa God Save the Queen, onde John Lydon gritou do fundo do seu Rotten being: there is no future / in England's dreaming. / No future / no future for you / no future for me.

Será que a Inglaterra ainda está a sonhar?

Tenho pena que Jim Morrisson não tenha vivido para ver e ouvir o poder da violência acústica do Punk.

Há uns dias postei a letra da música God save the Queen dos Sex Pistols, a propósito da libertação dos marinheiros britânicos.

Segundo Greil Marcus, na sua obra Lipstick Traces, quando os Sex Pistols lançaram o álbum Anarchy in the UK, amaldiçoaram o presente. Em 1977, com God Save the Queen, amaldiçoaram o passado de uma forma tão devastadora que levaram consigo o futuro. O modo como Johnny Rotten grita os versos: No Future for you, No future for me, não poderia ser mais expressivo.

Hoje apetecia-me ouvir a voz de Johnny.

Com a música Pretty Vacant do álbum Better Live Than Dead os Sex Pistols declararam o direito de não trabalhar e de ignorar todos os valores que estavam associados ao trabalho: perserverança, ambição, frugalidade, piedade, honestidade, esperança e futuro.
